Francesco Benelli

Biography
Francesco Benelli obtained his degree in 1996 at the School of Architecture in Rome “La Sapienza” working with Prof. Pier Nicola Pagliara. His Ph.D. dissertation on the “Palazzo del Podesta’ in Bologna, 1200–1506”, advised by Prof. Howard Burns and Pagliara, will be published next year as a book.
Dr. Benelli’s work focuses primarily on the Italian Renaissance and Late Gothic. His view of the History of Architecture reflects his background as former architect, with a particular interest on the transformation and development of the design process, engineering aspects and building technique such the use of the materials, tools and machines.
Current researches include “Scientific knowledge versus empiricism in the Renaissance Building Yard”.
In addition his experience includes several architectural surveys and digital projects.
