The Brancacci Chapel in S. Maria del Carmine, Florence, was frescoed with a cycle from the Life of St. Peter by Masolino and Masaccio between 1423 and 1428. Left unfinished, the chapel was completed by Filippino Lippi between c. 1481 and 1485. The upper frescoes were destroyed by fire in the 18th century. Several scholars have associated a relief sculpture of Christ Giving the Keys to St. Peter by Donatello with this cycle. All of the works are illustrated in the image pages below.
