Treasures of Heaven

The Media Center for Art History created a digital monograph for the 2010-11 exhibition Treasures of Heaven: Saints, Relics, and Devotion in Medieval Europe, organized by and exhibited at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, and the British Museum, London, and co-curated by Professor Holger A. Klein.

The site allows scholars, students, and a broad range of internet users to explore the history of the Christian cult of saints and their relics through video, 360-degree panoramas, and high-resolution, zoomable images. It expands on what was presented in the exhibition and in its catalog by placing the objects within the cultural, geographical, and architectural environment for which they were originally created.

This website was initially created for kiosks located in the galleries. In order to make this information available to a wider audience, the partnering institutions have kindly agreed to make their textual and image resources available for use in a public web version of the site.
