The triforium is an horizontal area situated between the main arcades and the clerestorey. In eleventh and twelfth century buildings the triforium often opens a tribune.
On the left you can see a detail of the triforium of Durham cathedral. On the right a 3 dimensional reconstruction. If you click on the right image a window will appear with a 3D model of the clerestorey. The model presented in this window can be rotated, displaced and zoomed. It furthermore contains a number of hotspots. If you pass with the mouse over one of these hotspots the name of the architectural element will appear.
